Examples of Intervals Math

Introduction to examples of intervals math:

Any numbers which lies between any two given real numbers is an interval in math and also the set of all real numbers. For example an interval 1<=x<=4 contains all elements which are lies from 1 to 4. Interval is in set of all positive and negative real numbers. There are different types of interval they are open interval, closed interval, half open interval and half closed interval. I like to share this Arithmetic Mean Formula with you all through my article.


Representation of interval – Examples of intervals math:


Open interval:

(a, b) `=>` {x `in` R|a` a and b are the real numbers. In this the interval has a real numbers which are lies between a and b.

Closed interval:

[a, b] `=>` {x `in` R|a<=x<=b} `=>` In this the interval has a real numbers which are lies from a to b.

Half open interval:

(a, b] `=>` {x`in` R|a` {x R|a<=x` This is the interval in which it has a number between a and b and also the number which has the symbol  ] or [ nearer.

Half closed interval:

(a, b] `=>` {x `in` R|a` {x `in` R|a<=x` This is the interval in which it has a number between a and b and also the number which has the symbol  ] or [ nearer.

International notation:

]a,b[ `=>` Open interval

]a, b] `=>` Half open interval

[a, b[ `=>` Half closed interval

[a, b] `=>` Closed interval

Example 1 – Examples of intervals math:

Explain the interval (5, 8) and specify what type of interval it is.

Solution:

The given interval is (5, 8) which is an open interval.

It contains the set of all real numbers which are lies between 5 and 8.

(5, 8) `=>` {5
Example 2 – Examples of intervals math:

Explain the interval (2, 10] and specify what type of interval it is:

Solution:

The given interval is (2, 10] which is an half open interval.

It has the set of all real numbers which lies between 2 and 10 and also it has a number  10 in a set.

(2, 10] `=>` {2
Example 3 – Examples of intervals math:

Explain the interval [8, 9) and specify what type of interval it is:

Solution:

The given interval is [8, 9) which is an half open interval.

It has the set of all real numbers which lies between 8 and 9 and also it has a number 8 in a set.

[8, 9) `=>` {8<=x<9 br="">
Example 4 – Examples of intervals math:

Explain the interval [4, 7] and specify what type of interval it is:

Solution:

The given interval is [4, 7] which is an half open interval.

It has the set of all real numbers which lies between 4 and 7 and also it has a number  4 and 7 in a set.

[4, 7] `=>` {4<=x<=7}
