Help with 7th Grade Math Example Problems:
Ex 1: Daniel studies for 5 hours, 6 hours and 4hours respectively on three consecutive days. How many hours does he study daily on an average?
Sol:
The average study time of john would be
Total number of study hours / Number of days for which he studied = `(5+6+4)/ 3` hours = 5 hours per day
Thus, we can say that Daniel studies for 5 hours daily on an average.
Ex 2: The area of square and four-sided figure is equal. If the side of the square is 30cm and the breadth (b) of the rectangle is 15cm, find the length (l) of the rectangle. Also, find the perimeter of the four-sided figure.
Sol:
Area of square = (side)2
= 30cm * 30cm =900cm2
It is given that,
The area of the rectangle = the area of the square
Area of the rectangle = 900cm2, breadth of the rectangle = 15cm.
Area of the rectangle = l*b
900 = l *15
`900/15` = l
l= 60cm
So, the length of rectangle is 60cm.
Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(l+b) = 2(60+15) cm
= 2 * 75cm = 150cm
So, the perimeter of the rectangle is 150cm even thought its area is the same as that of the square.
Ex 3: Express 81 as a power 3.
Sol:
We have 81 = 3 * 3 * 3 * 3
So, 81 = 34
Ex 4: Simplify the given expression `(-80) xx (3)/ (- 2)^2`
Sol:
Given expression `(-80) xx (3)/ (- 2)^2`
`(-80) xx (3) / (-2^2) ` = `- (80 xx 3)/ (- 2)` x (-2) = `- (80 xx 3)/ (2 xx 2)` = `- 240/4 ` = -60
Solution is -60.
Ex 5: Simplify the given expression 8 + (5 – 2) =?
Sol:
Given expression 8+ (5-2)
8 + (5 – 2) = 8+3 = 11
Solution is 11.

Pro 1: A tennis batsman scored the following number of runs in six innings: 36, 35, 50, 46, 60, 55 calculate the mean runs scored by him in an inning.
